About Smooth Stone Services

Smooth Stone Services was founded by David White in 2002 when he was in high school with the intention of providing quality, affordable IT solutions to individuals and small businesses. As a recent college graduate with a B.A. degree in Community Development, David has taught himself more about things in the IT field than he has learned in a formal environment. He believes that this knowledge proves the passion that he has for the industry.

He wants to see Smooth Stone Services integrate technology with community development work around the world by building relationships with the world's poor while through server administration, networking, web hosting, cellphone technology, and other IT services to NGOs and poor communities in order to make the world a better place.

 

Our mission is to provide affordable information technology services to organizations seeking to transform poor communities around the world, and to provide a crucial role in a community’s transformation by providing technology education and jobs to its members.

Web Developer

Know Drupal or Wordpress? Are you good with CSS, site layout, or PHP? We are looking for people who are interested in joining us as part-time independent contractors to help with web development tasks.

Duties may include the following:

  • Installing & upgrading Drupal core, contrib. modules, and/or themes
  • Configuring Drupal modules, and building out Drupal sites through the Drupal administration
  • Installing and upgrading Wordpress core, themes, and modules
  • Providing Drupal & Wordpress technical support and general technical support to web hosting clients
  • Updating non-CMS websites on an as-needed basis
  • Some graphic design
  • Other related jobs on an as-needed basis

Job Requirements:

  • At least 1-2 years Drupal and Wordpress experience (Drush experience is a plus)
  • Good knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS
  • Preferable experience with Javascript
  • Linux Command Line experience is a plus
  • 2 references
  • Preferrably be located in Chattanooga, TN
  • You will be required to sign a nondisclosure / non-solicitation agreement.

Compensation:

Compensation is negotiable based on experience, but will normally be no less than $10/hour and no more than $40/hour. No other benefits are included.
